High School Print and Drawing Competition
Since 1985 Oklahoma City’s Art Department has been sponsoring and presenting the High School Print & Drawing Competition. Every fall, students from high schools throughout Oklahoma submit work for exhibition in the Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery on the University campus. Over the years, the Competition has been expanded to include photographs and paintings in water-based media. Typically students from over 20 schools submit between 600 and 800 works of art for jurying. Of that number, between 75 and 150 are selected, by the Oklahoma City University faculty, for exhibition. There are 15 awards recognizing individual works of art, and depending on availability, the Art Department faculty may award scholarship vouchers to promising potential Oklahoma City University art students. Students interested in entering the High School Print & Drawing Competition should contact their art teachers or counselors. High school art teachers and counselors may get more information at (405) 208-5226. Special hours for the exhibition are M-F 8-4; Sun. 2-5
