Black Student Association Mission Statement
“We, the members of the Black Student Association of Oklahoma City University, strive to develop each member personally, socially, spiritually, academically, and culturally. As a part of our BSA family, our overall mission is to provide unity and support, as well as encourage servant leadership and academic excellence for all students at Oklahoma City University.”
Accomplishments & Activities
- Big XII Conference: The Ronald J. Page Most Outstanding Non-Big XII Council Of The Year (2010)
- Library Takeover: A contest within the organization to promote academic success through spending time to study in the library.
- Poetry Nights: Members and other students show their poetic sides during this event we host in the fall and spring.
- Crowd Pleaser: City wide talent show for the university that promotes community outreach.
- Blackbuster Movie Nights: Members join together and watch movies and eat popcorn in the school theater.
- Family Reunion: End of the year potluck dinner for members and their families.
- AIDS Walk: Our organization’s OneGive project for 2009, where we helped where ever we were needed.
- Y-Achievers: Our organization works alongside the YMCA to help mentor high school students throughout the area.
- BSA Loves OCU Basketball: We attend every home game and also try to make it to away games close to campus.
