Lambda Chi Alpha Founded:
November 12, 1909 Lambda Chi Alpha at OCU was the first chartered fraternity in the state of Oklahoma. Nationally, Lambda Chi Alpha is the youngest of the top five collegiate fraternities, yet we are third in membership size (well over 200,000 members and over 300 chapters), which makes us the fastest growing fraternity in the country. One of the reasons for this fast growth is that we are a fraternity of principle based on the concept of equality. Should you be invited into the brotherhood, you will not be considered a pledge, but rather an associate member. The associated program has proven to be an ideal way of developing leadership qualities. As an associated member you will not be subject to mental or physical hazing. Instead, you will undergo a challenging program of activities that will enhance your collegiate experience. We implemented the first associate program several years ago; now several other prominent national fraternities are following our lead, establishing similar programs for their new members. Members of Lambda Chi Alpha are leaders in a variety of on-campus organizations, including student senate, student foundation, the pre-law fraternity, the foreign language fraternity, the philosophy club, chamber choir, university singers, and many others. We are leaders off campus, participating in an annual food drive (raising over 1000 lbs.), working with local boys and girls clubs, and participating in several other activities like tutoring the disadvantaged.
