Kappa Sigma Founded:
December 10, 1869 Kappa Sigma is one of the strongest fraternities on the Oklahoma City University campus. Playing an active role among campus organizations, Kappa Sigma has produced a large number of leaders throughout history. We believe in working to become the best that we can be and we take pride in many leadership positions held by our brothers. During the 1999-2000 academic year, Kappa Sigma's have flourished in Student Senate, Interfraternity Council, Student Foundation, Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Tri Beta Biological Society, Chamber Choir, University Singers, and Sigma Theta Epsilon Men's Christian Service Fraternity. Nationally, Kappa Sigma is one of the oldest and largest college fraternities. There are presently over 240 chapters located at leading college and universities throughout the United States and Canada. Five of these chapters are in Oklahoma. Our Chapter is well known for its traditions of excellence and in 1988 was recognized with the Kappa Sigma Founders Award for Chapter Excellence, the national fraternities' most prestigious honor. Only nine chapter's nation wide qualified for this commendation. Kappa Sigma offers an unequaled social life at OCU allowing Brothers to relax after a rigorous scholastic schedule. Frequent informal get-togethers, Brother's nights out, formals, alumni weekends, and joint functions with each sorority, cookouts and innovative theme parties - provide the best in social opportunities. For many years, Kappa Sigma has hosted its annual Copa Festival, a weekend long soccer tournament. The 2000 Copa Festival raised $2000 benefiting the Feed the Children Association. In years past, the event has raised thousands of dollars for groups such as the March of Dimes, American Heart Association, and Urban Skyline Ministries. The six year old event has become an anticipated event both on and off campus. Return to Campus Connections |
