today. Real-life case studies will be analyzed. Our directed
study will consider key managerial, social, legal and political
aspects of administration. Students are encouraged to recommend

International Films
Requirement: Access to a computer/internet/e-mail program
Course Overview: As a cooperative form of art, films show
the artistic decisions, skills, and crafts of a large number of
creative individuals. It is hoped that this course will
contribute to students’ enjoyment of viewing films, and
international films in particular. Films from abroad often
present uneasy contexts, strange sounds, new views, slower
speed, hilarious humor, or different sets of values. They
fascinate and may challenge us to see very unfamiliar worlds.

Course Overview: This is an introduction to U.S.
government and politics (the political system) including the
Constitution, federal-state relations, political parties and
elections, interest groups, public opinion and the political
media, the congress, the presidency, bureaucracy, courts, civil
rights and liberties, and domestic policy-making with particular
emphasis on gun control.

Course Overview: This course will provide comprehensive
coverage of personal financial planning in the areas of money
management, career planning, taxes, consumer credit, housing and
other consumer decisions, legal protection, insurance,
investments, retirement planning, and estate planning. The goal
of this course is to teach students the fundamentals of
financial planning so they can make informed choices related to
spending, saving, borrowing, and investing that lead to
long-term financial security.

1051 - PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT: The Portfolio
Requirement: Access to a computer/internet/e-mail program
Course Overview: The first step for adults planning to
submit portfolios for college-level credit. Students will
complete an actual portfolio that can be submitted for
evaluation, student will learn to identify, describe and
document learning that has been gained through work or life
experience.
