Nursing School Gathers Honors
Under the leadership of Prof. DeAnne Parrott, students from Oklahoma City University’s RN-to-BSN program conducted a health fair for elementary school children at Western Oaks Elementary School in Bethany last month. The health fair focused on five target areas of the Schools for Healthy Lifestyles initiative for students in Oklahoma schools. It was the fourth year the school has conducted a health fair activity, and the 600 students served far exceeded the numbers of students reached in past fairs. The nurses prepared age-appropriate activities for students from kindergarten through fifth grade, and the Health Fair gave the nurses an increased understanding of the need for community partnerships to make a difference in the health of individual children.
