Alicia Hutchings RN, MSN graduated from Truman State University in 2004 with her BSN. During her undergraduate studies she was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was an active member of Alpha Sigma Gamma a service sorority. She began her nursing career in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri. There she was recognized by both the Annual Report and Primaris Award for the quality of care she provided to her infants and their families. In 200, Professor Hutchings graduated with her Master’s in Nursing with an emphasis in Education from Maryville University in St. Louis. During her graduate study, Professor Hutchings was inducted in to Sigma Theta Tau International. She began her teaching career in 2007 as a clinical instructor at Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, becoming a full time faculty member in 2008. Professor Hutchings and her son Braden relocated to the Oklahoma City area in January 2010 to be with her husband, an active duty member of the U.S. Navy stationed at Tinker Air Force Base. During her time at Kramer School of Nursing, Professor Hutchings has taught primarily in Foundations of Nursing. In 2010, she was awarded the Dean’s award. She maintains a clinical interest in the neonatal intensive care unit, as well as research interests in neonatal development and student desires for entering the nursing profession.
