Powerful Prose Book Review Features Renaissance Artists
The Powerful Prose book review series will continue with a presentation at 6:30 p.m. March 20 on the book, “Heretics and Heroes: How Renaissance Artists and Reformation Priests Created Our World (Hinges of History),” by Thomas Cahill. The presentation is free to the public and will be held at Full Circle Bookstore in 50 Penn Place, 1900 Northwest Expressway.
Oklahoma City University President Robert Henry and OCU art history professor Dawn St. Clare will discuss the book.
“Heretics and Heroes” focuses on how the innovations of the Renaissance and the Reformation changed the Western world. Beginning with the Black Death, the author describes how European thought created cultural shifts in the humanities through the Renaissance period into the early 17th century.
“Powerful Prose: Great Ideas and the Literature that Advances Them” is a monthly series led by OCU President Robert Henry and Oklahoma City University professors. All presentations are free to the public.
The series will continue April 23 with “Bully Pulpit” by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
