Constitution Day Brings Benjamin Franklin to OCU
TheatreOCU Artistic Director Lance Marsh will bring National Constitution Day to life with a one-man show as Benjamin Franklin. Marsh will give four performances, at 6 and 8 p.m. Sept. 16 and 17, in the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
Constitution Day is recognized nationally on Sept. 17 in honor of the anniversary of the document’s adoption in 1787. “A Republic, If You Can Keep It: An Evening with Benjamin Franklin” is appropriate for all age levels and free to the public.
Marsh is the artistic director and head of performance of TheatreOCU. He also serves as associate artistic director of Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park.
Before becoming a professor, he spent more than 15 years as a professional actor, primarily performing in classical plays. A member of Actors Equity, he has appeared at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Western Stage, the California Shakespeare Festival, the Okoboji Summer Theatre, Next Act Theatre, First Stage Children’s Theatre, the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival, the Milwaukee Shakespeare Company, the Texas Shakespeare Festival, the Arizona Repertory Theatre and was a company member for five years at American Players Theatre.
