Oklahoma City University is the now the official owner of the historic Central High School building in downtown Oklahoma City. The closing to finalize the purchase from American Farmers and Ranchers Mutual Insurance Company was completed today.
“I am excited about this purchase and the extraordinary opportunities it creates for OCU School of Law and our entire university,” said OCU President Robert Henry. “Not only will relocating the law school give OCU a dynamic presence downtown, but it also provides us an opportunity to expand on-campus resources for undergraduates. I want to especially thank the chairman of our board of trustees, Ron Norick, for his leadership throughout this process.”
The Central High School building, designed by architect Solomon Andrew Layton who also designed the Oklahoma State Capitol and the Skirvin Hilton Hotel, is located at 800 N. Harvey in downtown Oklahoma City. Per the sales agreement, the building’s previous owner can lease space as tenants in the building for up to two years.
