
‘A Single Roll of the Dice’: Award-Winning Writer, Scholar to Visit OCU
The president of the National Iranian American Council will discuss President Obama’s diplomacy with Iran March 1 at Oklahoma City University.
Trita Parsi, an
expert on U.S.-Iranian relations and geopolitics in the Middle East, will speak
from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in OCU’s Meinders School of Business, at N.W. 27th
Street and Florida Ave.
Parsi is the 2010
recipient of the Grawemeyer Award for Ideas for Improving World Order. He is a
silver medal winner for the 2008 Arthur Ross Book Award from the prestigious Council
on Foreign Relations. His book, “A Single Roll of the Dice – Obama’s Diplomacy
with Iran” was just released. He interviewed 70 high-ranking officials from the
U.S., Iran, Europe, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Brazil—including the top
American and Iranian negotiators—for the book.
Parsi has followed
Middle East politics through work in the field and extensive experience on
Capitol Hill and at the United Nations. He is frequently consulted by Western
and Asian governments on foreign policy matters. Parsi has worked for the
Swedish Permanent Mission to the UN, where he served in the Security Council,
handling the affairs of Afghanistan, Iraq, Tajikistan and Western Sahara and in
the General Assembly's Third Committee, addressing human rights in Iran,
Afghanistan, Myanmar and Iraq.
Paris holds a PhD
from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. His
articles have been published in the Wall
Street Journal, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Jane’s Intelligence Review
and The American Conservative.
