
Energy Leaders to Address Hot Topics at OCU Conference
OKLAHOMA
CITY – Renowned environment professor Vaclav Smil
and Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm will discuss environmental issues, horizontal
drilling and fracturing techniques at Oklahoma City University’s next Karl F.
and June S. Martin Family Foundation Energy Management Speaker Series. The
conference will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at OCU’s Meinders School of
Business, located at N.W. 27th St. and McKinley Ave.
Smil is a distinguished professor in the
faculty of environment at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He is
listed as one of the “Top 100 Global Thinkers” by Foreign Policy magazine and has published several books on his
interdisciplinary research interests including energy, the environment, food,
population, the economy and public policy.
“Professor Smil is a heavy-weight
thinker, prolific author and a regular on the lecture circuit and we are
excited he will be joining Harold Hamm to discuss energy issues we face on a
national and global scale,” said Steven C. Agee, interim dean of OCU’s Meinders
School of Business.
Hamm has served as CEO and director of Continental
Resources since the company’s inception in 1967 and currently serves as
chairman of the board of directors. He served as a founding board member of the
Oklahoma Energy Resources Board and co-founded the Domestic Energy Producers
Alliance.
