Oklahoma City University to Host Jewish Living Festival April 10
What do Sabbath candles, potato pancakes, funny masks
and a sukkah have in common?
All are part of the Jewish life cycle events and
holidays that will be displayed at the Festival of Jewish Living this April in
the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel at Oklahoma City University.
Food and objects from each of the annual Jewish
holidays will be presented at lavishly decorated tables, which will be run by
Oklahoma City University students and members of Emanuel Synagogue. The event
is a service learning project for students in OCU’s “Judaism in America,”
“World Religions” and “Honors Introduction to Biblical Literature” classes.
The festival is free to the public and will be held
from 1 to 4 p.m. April 10. The festival will feature the Jewish Café, serving
coffee and baked goods and an “Ask the Rabbi” table where Rabbi Abby Jacobson,
of Emanuel Synagogue, will answer questions.
