Brittany Davis, Music Theater Junior, Wins National Singing Contest
Brittany Davis, a
junior music theater major from the Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City
University, is the national winner of the “Country Strong” Singing Challenge,
sponsored by Country Music Television. Davis, a native of
Hoover, Alabama, competed Dec. 3 in Oklahoma City against 27 other contestants.
Singing an a cappella version of the movie's theme song, Davis won the
regional prize of $500 and an invitation to an advance screening of the film. Davis’ video was placed online at www.countrystrong.cmt.com, along
with 15 other regional winners, where the public weighed in. Out of about 500,000
votes, Brittany was the clear winner, according to Michele Langston, senior publicist for Sony Pictures for the Oklahoma area. The grand prize
includes a trip for two to Nashville, an opportunity to meet a Sony
Nashville music executive, a visit to the set of CMT’s Top 20 Countdown show
and the possibility of performing on the network. Davis chronicled her
countdown to the winner’s announcement on You Tube
