Oklahoma City University Dancers to Appear on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
OKLAHOMA CITY – Four students from Oklahoma City University’s Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management will be seen on national television this weekend.
Dance pedagogy seniors Jenna Jackson and Ali Rosenstein, dance performance junior Chip Byars and dance performance sophomore Gracie Verkamp will appear on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition at 7 p.m. Central time Sunday on ABC.
The dancers filmed the show in June in Long Island, N.Y. after they were chosen to audition by Broadway Dance Center officials. The performers were summer interns at the dance center.
About 30-40 performers auditioned for the show and 12 were selected.
“The family the show was about was a big fan of music theater,” Jackson said. “We basically did a continuous music theater number while they were tearing down the house.”
Jackson said she enjoyed the experience.
“It was really neat to do two things I love to do at the same time,” she said. “I love dancing and helping people. It was cool to make the family’s dream come true.”
