OCU Grad Lands Role on National “Mama Mia!” Tour
OKLAHOMA CITY — A 2007 musical theater graduate from Oklahoma City University has landed a starring role on the current “Mamma Mia!” national tour.
David Raimo is playing the role of Sky in the popular musical production named after the ABBA hit song. The show is on its North American tour, which is currently playing in Toronto, Ontario until June 27.
Raimo has performed on national tours of “Chicago,” “CATS” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” He has also appeared in “Guys and Dolls” at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the world-premier of “Life Could Be A Dream” at the Hudson Mainstage Theater in Los Angeles and “Damn Yankees” and “The Fantasticks” for the New Jersey-based Premier Theatre Company.
Raimo is from Duluth, Minn., and moved to Oklahoma City to attend OCU. While in college he performed in “Urban Cowboy: The Musical,” “Parade,” “A Doll’s House” and other productions. He has appeared on stages across the country, on television and in film with a variety of talents including singing, dancing and playing piano.
“Mama Mia!” is a story written by Catherine Johnson about a young woman in Greece. Shortly before her wedding she attempts to discover the identity of her real father, inviting three men from her mother's past to her home.
