Veteran Director to Discuss Music Theater Industry in OCU Talk
Director Bob Durkin will hold an informal talk and question-and-answer session on the music theater industry at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Petree Recital Hall at the Bass School of Music on the Oklahoma City University campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
Durkin is a director and choreographer of musical theater with 34 years of experience. He has more than 200 production credits of musicals, plays and revues in tours, stock, and regional theater. He is currently guest director for Thoroughly Modern Millie, the season finale for OCU's Oklahoma Opera and Music Theater Company.
His list of international and national tours include: Anything Goes, Ain't Misbehavin', Big River, Crazy For You, Dreamgirls, The Goodbye Girl, Hello Dolly, Little Shop of Horrors, One Mo' Time, Purlie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Unforgettable (The Nat King Cole Story), and They're Playing Our Song. He also has worked on The Three Irish Tenors and Voices of Native America.
In addition to directing Thoroughly Modern Millie at Oklahoma City University, he has led OCU productions of The Gondoliers, Seussical and Guys and Dolls.
Durkin has served as guest artist at University of Alabama in Birmingham, University of Vermont, West Virginia University, Marymount Manhattan College, Wagner College, and West Point Military Academy and at regional theaters including Gateway Playhouse, West Virginia Public Theatre, Cherry County Playhouse, Westbury Music Fair, Theatre By The Sea, Candlewood Playhouse, Saint Michael's Playhouse, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, and the Sharon Playhouse.
