Zieba Recital Celebrates Bicentennial of Chopin's Birth
Tomasz Zieba, instructor of cello and associate principal cellist of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, will celebrate the bicentennial of Frederic Chopin’s birth with a recital 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, in Petree Recital Hall on the Oklahoma City University campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
Zieba’s program includes Astor Piazzolla’s La Grand Tango for cello and piano and Bedrich Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op.15.
Chopin works to be performed are Nocturne in E flat major Op. 9 No. 2; Prelude in A major Op. 28 No. 7; Prelude in B minor Op. 28 No. 6; Waltz in A minor Op. 34 No. 2; and Polonaise Brillante in C minor Op. 3.
Joining Zieba for the recital will be Haysun Kang, head of the piano program at Loyola University of Chicago, and OCU alumnus Marat Gabdullin, now a member of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
