Oklahoma City University Professor Explores Women of the Bible in DVD Series
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University Religion Professor Lisa Wolfe has published a four-volume DVD series that takes a unique look at women in the Bible.
Published by Living the Questions, “Uppity Women of the Bible” gives fresh insights and thoughtful discussion topics for Ruth, The Song of Songs, Judith and Esther. Each volume contains several 10 to 15 minute video segments with discussion questions to encourage participants to debate and explore new topics.
“These women have so much to teach us about courage, survival, love, heroism, passion and of course, faith,” Wolfe said. “They remind us of the struggles that so many women have had to face – and continue to face – in order to find security and happiness for themselves, their families and their people. In teaching the Bible studies that are on these DVDs, I found that everyone could relate in some way to these ‘uppity’ women. Their stories cradle our own life stories in ways that are both unsettling and comforting.”
Wolfe, holds a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and Northwestern University’s joint program in religious and theological studies. She is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and teaches Hebrew Bible at OCU.
