List Cites OCU as Favorite for Advanced Performing Arts Study
An international career guidance website has named Oklahoma City University as one of the top schools for advanced study of the performing arts.
In a September 1 front page article, studydiscussions.com listed OCU as one of 14 institutions recommended for graduate students in the performing arts. Other schools on the list: Northwestern University, North Carolina School for the Arts, Savannah College of Art and Design, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
The Bass School of Music, School of Theatre, and Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management comprise the Margaret E. Petree College of Performing Arts at at Oklahoma City University.
In the 21st century, the Bass School of Music doubled its size, became an all-Steinway School, the nation's first Conn-Selmer School, and an Apple Digital Campus. Since its opening in 2006, the $38.5 million, 113,000-square-foot Bass Music Center has hosted artists and educators from around the world. The school's 2009-10 enrollment is at a record high of 380 music majors.
