
Bass School Faculty Perform at Brightmusic Season Opener
Oklahoma City University music faculty will perform at the Aug. 25 season opener for the Brightmusic chamber ensemble.
Tuesday’s fantasy-themed concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street at Robinson. Admission is free and open to the public.
On the program: “Trio Pathetique for Clarinet, Bassoon and Piano in D minor,” composed by?Mikhail Glinka (1804-1857); “Breakdown Tango for Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano,” by American composer John Mackey (born 1973); “Carmen” Fantasy for Flute, Clarinet and Piano,?by Georges Bizet (1838-1875); and “Sextet in C major for Violin, Viola, Cello, Clarinet, Horn and Piano, Op. 37” by?Ernö von Dohnányi (1877-1960).
Featured musicians are Bass School of Music faculty and Oklahoma City Philharmonic members Kate Pritchett, horn, and Parthena Owens, flute. Also performing: former Bass School faculty Chad Burrow, clarinet, and Amy I-Lin Cheng, piano, as well as Gregory Lee, violin; Royce McLarry, viola; Carl Rath, bassoon; and Jonathan Ruck, Cello.
