Message from OCU President Tom McDaniel Regarding Campus Safety
Orientation week is a monumental time in the lives of college freshmen and their families and we are delighted to welcome a new class of students to Oklahoma City University this week. Regarding the safety of students on the OCU campus in light of the shootings at Langston University in Langston, Okla., I would like to make you aware of some of our safety practices on campus.
We have a full-fledged police department at OCU, which gives us the opportunity to better train our officers, improved access to crime records across the nation and better collaboration with other emergency agencies. All of our orientation events are closed-campus activities only open to OCU students. We are continually assessing our safety practices to give our students the best possible environment in which to grow and learn. If you have any questions about campus safety, I invite you to contact Vice President of Student Affairs Rick Hall at (405) 208-5350 or our OCU Police Department at (405) 208-5001.
