Guthrie Stars in New York Premiere of Kern Musical
Scott Guthrie ’01 recently starred in the New York premiere of “Cabaret Girl” by Jerome Kern, 87 years after its debut in London.
Broadwayworld.com reported: "Jerome Kern collaborated with P.G. Wodehouse and/or Anne Caldwell on 15 Broadway hits. They wrote Cabaret Girl in 1922 and it ran in London's West End for over 450 performances but never came to Broadway - until now, 87 years later.”
Guthrie starred as Jim in the Kern show, presented by the "Musicals Tonight!" series at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre, 2162 Broadway.
He also has been cast as Trevor Graydon in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” at the Media Theatre in Media, Penn., May 8 - June 7. For more information, visit mediatheatre.org.
Last summer, Guthrie played Billy Bigelow in “Carousel” at the Summer Theatre in Meredith Village, N.H. He also reprised the role of Smudge in Lyric Theatre's production of “Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings,” which opened the new Plaza Theatre in Oklahoma City.
