Wang Joins Burrow, Cheng for Violin, Clarinet, Piano Trios
Guest violinist Sean Wang joins OCU professors Chad Burrow and Amy I-Lin Cheng for a free faculty recital 8 p.m. Feb. 23 in Petree Recital Hall.
Three trios highlight the program, which begins with Jan Vanhal’s Trio in E-flat Major for Clarinet, Violin, and Piano, Op. 20, No. 5. Other trios are by Aram Khachaturian and Bela Bartok.
Wang will perform Heinrich Ignaz Biber’s Passacaglia for Solo Violin. He earned his BM in violin performance from the Curtis Institute of Music, an MM in orchestral conducting from the Juilliard School, and a Ph.D. in music and humanities at Stanford University.
Burrow and Cheng will team on Eugene Kurtz’s Logo II for Clarinet and Piano. Cheng and Burrow comprise Duo Clarion and are founding members and co-directors for the Brightmusic Chamber Music Series at St. Paul's Cathedral in Oklahoma City.
In addition to frequent regional performances, Cheng and Burrow have performed in Asia, Europe, and in the United States from coast to coast.
