Michelle Millben '95 Sings at Super Bowl, Inauguration
Oklahoma City University alumna Michelle Millben ‘05 has been on stage at three of the biggest American spectaculars of 2009. Millben sang with the gospel choir backing up Bruce Springsteen's Super Bowl halftime show Feb. 1. The choir also sang at the Jan. 18 blockbuster welcome concert for President-elect Barack Obama on the National Mall and at the Jan. 20 inauguration in Washington, D.C.
Millben, a violin performance major, is a law clerk at Diversity Spectrum – J.C. Watts Companies & McCollum & Associates. She will receive her law degree from University of Oklahoma in May 2009. She is is a former Miss Black OCU and Miss Black Oklahoma 2005.
The choir provided backup for Springsteen, Beyoncé, Bono, Mary J. Blige and Sheryl Crow at the “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration” at the Lincoln Memorial.
The “We Are One” concert kicked off four days of events before Obama’s Tuesday inauguration. The program featured one song from each star, followed by duets, trios and choirs. Sunday’s lineup also includes John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Will.i.am, John Legend, Shakira and Garth Brooks. Queen Latifah, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Martin Luther King III read historic passages.
