Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Arts Combo Play Classics
Oklahoma City University’s jazz ensembles will perform a concert of classics Dec. 3 in the Bass Music Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Jazz Arts Combo will present Rodgers and Hart’s “My Romance” and “My Funny Valentine,” Wayne Shorter’s “Fall” and “Witch Hunt,” and Herman Hup[feld’s “As Time Goes By.”
Members of the Jazz Arts Combo are soprano Manna Nichols; Robert Redmond, trumpet; Chris Lecher, trombone; Brian Anderson, guitar; Brian McQuade, bass; and percussionists Jerrod Murphy, Jeremy Parr, and Brett Woodmansee.
Jazz Orchestra pieces include Chick Corea’s “Spain,” the Gershwins’ “Embraceable You,” Russ Freeman’s “Morocco,” Kern and Hammerstein’s “All the Things You Are,” Warren, Rose and Gershwin’s “Cheerful Little Earful,” and “Just Friends,” by Davies, Klenner, and Lewis.
The Jazz Orchestra is comprised of Ryan Beach, Tomasz Dabrowski, Dwight Goetz and Mason Tyler, trumpet; Chris Lecher, Tim Mills, Josh Attaway, and Justin Sechrist, trombones; Brady Rohling, Lisa Hollowell, Judyta Murzyn, and Tracy Patterson, saxophone; and rhythm section Kaelyn Neal and Julie Huang, piano; Brian Anderson, guitar; Sam Hinson, bass; and Chris Ozinga and Eddy Streck, drums.
