OCU’s Student-Initiated ‘One Give’ Brings Focus to Servant Leadership
The Oklahoma City University community will put on their work boots and pick up their rakes, shovels and paintbrushes next month for a new service project on campus.
One Give, which is sponsored by OCU’s Student Government Association, will include all student organizations and numerous teams comprised of students, faculty, staff and trustees for a campus wide day of service Oct. 12.
“This is a project that’s all about community and getting together to give back through servant leadership,” said senior Jeff Riles, president of the OCU Student Government Association.
Groups will take part in beautification efforts such as laying sod, planting flowers and painting curbs from noon to 6 p.m.
One Give is also a fundraising project. Donations and university funds saved by volunteer efforts will be used for capital improvements, such as covered walkways and expressive art for the campus. The OCU Board of Trustees will match funds students raise through One Give.
