RESEARCHING SHAKESPEARE

This guide is a starting point for finding scholarly articles about Shakespeare and his works using databases provided by the Dulaney-Browne Library.

To review how to search with Boolean operators, take this brief, interactive tutorial from Colorado State.

Three databases in EBSCOhost are particularly useful for finding resources on Shakespeare and his works: Academic Search Complete, Humanities International Complete, and MLA International Bibliography. Use this search box to search all three databases at once:

Keep in mind that you can add/or take away EBSCOhost databases at any time. To do that from the EBSCOhost interface, click the Choose Databases link and check the box next to the ones you'd like to add.

Here are some suggested database combinations for Shakespearean themes.

Religious Theme: ATLA Religion Database with ATLA Serials

Musical Theme: RILM Abstracts of Music Literature, Music Index

Business/Leadership Theme: Business Source Complete

Performing Arts: International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text

OTHER DATABASES

If you don't find what you need in EBSCOhost databases, try JSTOR and Project Muse. These databases must be searched separately because they're hosted on different platforms.
