Greetings Campus Community,

One of the best times of the year has arrived for Jan and me as the Christmas spirit begins to permeate Oklahoma City University.

I am very proud of our generous campus community for joining together to bring Christmas cheer to those less fortunate again this year. Opportunities for giving have begun with campus departments adopting families to gift through Skyline Urban Ministries and the Athletics Department's annual canned food drive, which continues through 2 p.m. Sunday. For a full list of charitable opportunities, go to www.okcu.edu/holidayspirit/.

The first of our splendid Christmas performances took the stage last night as TheatreOCU and Oklahoma Children's Theatre kicked off "A Christmas Carol." The stage version of this quintessential Christmas story, adapted by TheatreOCU Artistic Director D. Lance Marsh, continues through December 9.

Next up is our magnificent American Spirit Dance Company under the direction of Jo Rowan for the annual Home for the Holidays show, beginning December 6 and continuing through December 9. Hailed as the best holiday dance extravaganza west of New York City, more than 150 OCU students, some of whom are Broadway bound, will fill the stage with energy and exuberance as well as the joy, warmth, and spirit of Christmas.

Our spectacular holiday performance trifecta will finish with Christmas Vespers on December 7 and 8. More than 250 OCU singers and orchestral musicians will celebrate "Songs of Comfort and Joy" with some of the most powerful music written for the seasons of Advent and Christmas. Director of Choral Activities Randi Von Ellefson and Associate Director of Choral Activities Judith Willoughby have crafted the finest of Christmas concerts.

Jan and I hope you will join us in enjoying our amazingly-talented students and faculty at these productions. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week, and we look forward to sharing the Christmas season with you!
