Dear OCU Campus,
Today, six outstanding Oklahoma City University faculty were recognized during the OCU Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning 6th Annual Faculty Awards Luncheon.
President Robert Henry provided opening remarks for the luncheon and then turned the program over to six OCU students who shared how these faculty have greatly influenced their academic careers. The students who participated in bestowing the awards were Ali Bryant, Blakeley Pearson, Alley Agee, Courtney Kagle Belle, Emma Velez, and Juan Campos Jr.
The event’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Milton D. Cox, Director Emeritus of the Center for the Enhancement of Learning, Teaching, and University Assessment at Miami University, Ohio. He is also the founder and editor-in-chief of the Journal on Excellence in College Teaching and the Learning Communities Journal. Milton has been project director for multiple grants establishing faculty learning community programs at other universities, is co-editor of the book Building Faculty Learning Communities, and has visited more than 75 institutions in the U.S. and abroad to consult on various issues in higher education. OCU is honored by his visit.
Ultimately, today’s event recognized the amazing job faculty does daily in the OCU classroom. Although I always wish we could do more to honor the prestige and excellence our faculty embodies, the luncheon was a wonderful tribute. If you see any of the faculty members honored today on the OCU campus, please congratulate them.
