Oklahoma City University conferred the Honorary Doctor of Performing Arts degree on Donald O'Connor on Friday, December 8, 2000. In February 2002, OCU recognized the accomplishments of nine more legendary tappers by presenting them with honorary doctorates. The most recent honorary doctorate was presented to Arthur Duncan in Spring 2008.
