Details: The Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma book discussion series at Oklahoma City University concludes its fall season with “War and Freedom,” featuring selections from the anthology “America’s War.” The discussion is free to the public.
The final session concerns the most unanticipated outcome of the American Civil War—the immediate, uncompensated emancipation of 4 million people who had been held in slavery for more than two centuries. The discussion will include selections from Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Margaret Walker and others.
At each session in the series, a humanities scholar makes a presentation on the book in the context of the theme. Small group discussions follow with experienced discussion leaders. At the end, all participants come together for a brief wrap-up.
Those who are interested in participating are encouraged to preregister and borrow the reading selections and theme brochure by calling Harbour Winn.
