Criminal Law Association Meeting

Details: Emma Rolls and Jean Giles will be talking to us about criminal defense work at the appellate level!

Emma Rolls was an appellate attorney at the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System and the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office. She represented persons convicted of felonies, including capital murder, on direct appeal. This work included briefing and arguing before the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, the court of last resort for criminal cases in Oklahoma.

Jean Giles was a member of the defense team in the Terry Nichols state murder case. Immediately after graduating from law school, she was a trial attorney at the Federal Defenders of Eastern Washington and Idaho. In that position, she represented indigent persons charged with or convicted of federal crimes at trial and sentencing, on appeal, and during federal habeas corpus proceedings. This work included briefing and arguing before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
