The Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma book discussion series at Oklahoma City University will continue its winter 2013 season with “A Passage to India” by E.M. Forster. The discussion is free to the public. The series is made possible through a grant from the Oklahoma Humanities Council. “A Passage to India” is Forster’s recounting of the mythical and physical journeys of characters amidst three great religious traditions—Christianity, Islam and Hinduism—in the twilight of the British Empire in India. The book explores the encounters of its two main characters, a woman from England and an Indian doctor, and their struggles to understand each others’ cultures. Amrita Sen, an English professor who specializes in world literature, will lead the discussion. |
